Nationally recognized Technology Solutions and Services Provider, MicroTech, supported this weekend’s 9th annual Blondes vs. Brunettes football game held at George Washington University’s Mount Vernon Campus. The game was part of the annual fundraising campaign for the Alzheimer’s Association. The event was created in 2005 by a group of D.C. women who had a personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease. Since the inaugural game in Washington D.C., the event has branched out to more than 35 additional cities and raised more than $3 million benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause. Collectively both teams raised $96,000 through activities leading up to and at the football game itself. This was the second year participating for MicroTech representative Rebekah Coughlin (Deputy Program Manager, Enterprise Solutions & Services); she emphasized, “Alzheimer’s is a hard battle for both patients and their loved ones and I am touched by the overwhelming support and generosity of my co-workers, friends, and family every year”. The Blondes were trailing at the start of the 4th quarter, but they completed a one-point conversion with 20 seconds left to bring them to a 33-32 victory over the Brunettes. This is the Blondes second win in 9 years. Tim Dioquino (MicroTech’s SVP of Integration & Innovation), who is a long-time supporter of the battle against Alzheimer’s and contributor to Rebekah’s fund raising campaign, echoed MicroTech’s corporate philosophy of lending a helping hand to those in need, by saying, “If everyone would just give a little in the way of time, effort, and money, we can make such a difference in beating this terrible disease; the volunteers like Rebekah who put together this year’s successful event are to be commended for their selflessness and caring”.
