Missile Defense Agency (MDA)

The Missile Defense Agency needed to support agency communications across 17 time zones. The agency decided on an electronic collaboration and information-management system featuring interactive video, Web 2.0 technologies, and voice and video over IP. A videoconferencing infrastructure provided by MicroTech supports face-to-face communication between any two people in the agency. Responsibilities include classified Video Teleconferencing systems engineering, technical operations, scheduling, and training support and maintenance at seven secure military installations in the U.S.

In 2010, the MicroTech solution was recognized with the CIO 100 Award, honoring 100 companies that are creating new business value by innovating with technology. “The Missile Defense Agency has…generated over 300 video teleconferencing units, resulting in an average volume of 1700 sessions per month at 100 locations worldwide with 6,000 simultaneous participants. This has tallied a savings of $20 million per year in employee time and travel costs.”–CIO.com
