MicroTech employees recently joined together in bringing much needed items to ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others), a nonprofit, all-volunteer charitable organization dedicated to assisting those who suffer the effects of long-term poverty as well as people who are experiencing an emergency need. MicroTech’s donated items are among those that allows ECHO to distribute temporary or emergency food, clothing, household items, transportation, a variety of related family counseling services, and also offers limited financial assistance in emergencies all in a store-like setting. ECHO has no paid staff.

ECHO, located at 7205 Old Keene Mill Road, was founded in 1969 and supports its work with donations and services provided by almost 400 volunteers and over 25 area congregations. All aid is given regardless of the religious beliefs or practices of those assisted. ECHOs engages in:

  • Aiding families in emergencies
  • Providing family guidance and assistance
  • Supplying transportation to adults and children for needed services
  • Providing adequate shelter for clients
  • Educating citizens with regard to social and charitable needs
  • Operating a day care center for children
