Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association Elect MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez as National Chairman

New York, NY– January 20, 2010—Latino in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) has elected Anthony (Tony) Jimenez as its new Chair of the National Board of Directors. As the highest volunteer position in the organization, Mr. Jimenez was selected on the basis of his long-standing commitment to the Latino community, as well as his ability to provide leadership, vision, and support to the communities’ preeminent organization dedicated solely to the advancement of Latino technology professionals.

Mr. Jimenez‘s appointment  was made official on December 8th, 2009, at the LISTA National Technology Achievers Awards Gala, where the torch was past from Jose Luis Rodriguez, LISTA Past Chair, in New York City. The event, which is held annually, brings together corporations, partners and industry professionals to recognize Latino technology excellence in corporate America.

“I’m honored to be named the National Chairman of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association – an organization that I have a tremendous amount of respect for,” said Tony Jimenez. “LISTA’s focus on science and technology is an important one for everyone in the Latino community. Groups like LISTA help ensure opportunities are made available to Latinos, and can lead to the growth in Latino entrepreneurs in the Information Sciences and Technology field. If I can encourage young Latinos to pursue their dreams with a professional career in Technology, then that’s the greatest reward to me.”

“As LISTA enters its 9th year of public work, we continue to commit to the development of our community in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics  careers and businesses, continue to advocate for d opportunities in all communities and remain focused on new strategies for closing the digital divide,” said Jose Marquez, CEO of LISTA. “As our incoming national board chair, Tony will play a critical role in ensuring our vision for sustained success, growth, and expansion remains true to LISTAs’ goal, which is to educate, motivate and empower the Latina community with the use of technology.”

The LISTA National Board of Directors consists of 15 men and women from a wide array of communities, keeping LISTA's commitment to diversity stronger than ever. With expertise in fields from difference areas in technology, finance, health and education, the National Board keeps advancing the LISTA Movement.

“Tony Jimenez as our new chair brings a new dynamic to the changing paradigm in technology. He will make sure that Latino small business technology sector continues to grow, and will serve as a watchdog to industry matters which affect the Latino community,” said Mr. Marquez. “Not only does LISTA have a powerful voice at the table which has our best interests at heart, but Tony’s business knowledge small business knowledge and success will greatly benefit our community’s  development.” 

Tony is a highly decorated veteran, has an MA in Computers and Information Systems, an MS in Acquisition Management and a BS in Business Management from St. Marys University. He is a certified Program Manager, Chief Information Officer, and IT professional and has served as a Government Contracting Officer where he held numerous unlimited contracting warrants for the Federal government.

Since founding MicroTech in 2004, Tony has grown the business into a profitable multi-million dollar company with over 370 highly skilled professionals supporting over 100  prime contracts with civilian and defense agencies of the Federal government.

We’re doing great things all around this country, but we need to do more to show not only Latino/as, but every under-served and under-represented population how substantial and relevant an organization like LISTA is and why technology is the great enabler,” said Chris Rodriguez, COO of LISTA.
