The American Red Cross is an important humanitarian relief organization, and the National Capital Area Chapter is responsible for a sprawling jurisdiction that includes the District of Columbia; Prince George’s, Montgomery and Fairfax Counties; the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church; a field office on Fort Belvoir and a presence at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Andrews Air Force Base.
The chapter’s very active board is charged with advancing public and private partnerships that will enable them to meet the ambitious goals of responding to major natural or human-caused disasters with expanded resources and skill.
Jimenez joins a prestigious group of local business leaders who are committed to advancing the mission of the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area and to making it the best prepared, the most responsive and the most fully engaged community in the nation—before, during and after emergencies of all kinds. Anthony “Tony” Jimenez is a highly decorated U.S. Army Veteran and seasoned Information Technology executive. He has nearly 30 years experience in IT development and deployment, strategic planning, enterprise transformation, acquisition management, and procurement. He is an active member of the Technology industry and an advocate for the Veteran and the Hispanic community. He serves on a number of boards and councils, and attends numerous conferences and technology events serving as an expert on entrepreneurship, government contracting and contract support management.
The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area, with a ratio of 67 volunteers to each paid staff, provides relief to victims of disaster and empowers people in the D.C. Metropolitan Area to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and other life-threatening emergencies. Financially supported by the generosity of the local community, your National Capital Area Chapter responds 2-3 times a day to local disasters–396 in 2008 alone–while continuing to build its capacity to effectively prepare for and respond to the next major disaster to strike our community. The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area is the premier local resource empowering individuals and mobilizing our community to survive the unexpected and save lives.
