Fairfax, Va. (July 2, 2009) – Anthony (Tony) Jimenez, President & CEO for MicroTech in Vienna was elected to serve as a member of the board for the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area, located in Fairfax, Va. Jimenez was nominated and confirmed at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area in May at the American Red Cross Board of Governor’s Hall.

The American Red Cross is an important humanitarian relief organization, and the National Capital Area Chapter is responsible for a sprawling jurisdiction that includes the District of Columbia; Prince George’s, Montgomery and Fairfax Counties; the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church; a field office on Fort Belvoir and a presence at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Andrews Air Force Base.

The chapter’s very active board is charged with advancing public and private partnerships that will enable them to meet the ambitious goals of responding to major natural or human-caused disasters with expanded resources and skill.

Jimenez joins a prestigious group of local business leaders who are committed to advancing the mission of the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area and to making it the best prepared, the most responsive and the most fully engaged community in the nation—before, during and after emergencies of all kinds. Anthony “Tony” Jimenez is a highly decorated U.S. Army Veteran and seasoned Information Technology executive. He has nearly 30 years experience in IT development and deployment, strategic planning, enterprise transformation, acquisition management, and procurement.  He is an active member of the Technology industry and an advocate for the Veteran and the Hispanic community.  He serves on a number of boards and councils, and attends numerous conferences and technology events serving as an expert on entrepreneurship, government contracting and contract support management.

The American Red Cross of the National Capital Area, with a ratio of 67 volunteers to each paid staff, provides relief to victims of disaster and empowers people in the D.C. Metropolitan Area to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and other life-threatening emergencies.
