Created by the Federal Aviation Act of 1958, the FAA is a part of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and holds Federal responsibility for the safety of Civil Aviation. The agency regulates civil aviation, encourages the use of technology in civil aeronautics, operates a system of air traffic control and aircraft navigation, manages programs to control aircraft noise, and even regulates U.S. commercial space transportation.
MicroTech is one of the nation’s most highly-regarded and fastest-growing network and IT enterprise management providers, offering Information Technology Systems and Services, Strategic Solutions, Audio-Visual Telecommunications Design and Installation, Product Solutions, and Consulting Services primarily to the Federal Government, and city, state, and local agencies – managing over 400,000 IT users daily.
“MicroTech is excited about contributing to the valuable SAVES program by offering affordable COTS Software solutions and support to the FAA,” said Tony Jimenez, President and CEO of MicroTech. “Through the SAVES initiative, the FAA is holding down costs, while continually modernizing their technology. We look forward to leveraging MicroTech’s talented, committed technology professionals and best-in-class delivery model in support of this important program goal to transform the agency.”
MicroTech will furnish all COTS software products, software maintenance, and support services, for mandatory use by the FAA at its nine regional offices, two centers, agency headquarters, and at all other FAA locations. The FAA has offices and facilities throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as at other remote U.S. territory locations.
The MicroTech FAA SAVES contract is a mandatory Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract. As the holder of several prominent ID/IQs — making commercial products and services available for use across the government — MicroTech offers access to over 300,000 IT products and 2500 vendors. MicroTech will provide strategic sourcing for a multitude of leading software vendors including Microsoft, Adobe, Citrix, as well as other vendors currently being utilized by the FAA.
If all options are exercised, the MicroTech FAA SAVES contract is planned for five years; a base year plus four (4) one-year option periods.
