Job-Statement

Provide engineering design competencies and leadership in support of business development, sales, and project management activities for the A/V Telecommunications division to ascertain sustainable competitive advantage. Activities include leading the engineering group, and establishing engineering standards and operational guidelines consistent with best practices, ISO, and CMMI.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the execution of engineering activities.
  • Ensure the highest quality product is delivered on-time within budget while meeting/exceeding customer expectations.
  • Recruit and oversee the development of engineering staff.
  • Evaluate, develop and apply new and existing technologies to create new products or methodologies or enhance and improve existing products or methodologies.
  • Establish engineering standards and ensure adherence to them for product development and company operations.
  • Direct the development and completion of the proposal spreadsheet. Review proposal spreadsheets and technical descriptions prepared by others for completeness, accuracy and conformance to given requirements.
  • Supervise the development of control system drawings and/or sketches as required for submittal and/or installation.
  • Supervise and/or conduct and document site surveys. Generate site survey reports to be used in design and/or deployment of systems and or equipment. Direct the development of reports to be used in design and/or deployment of systems and or equipment.
  • Generate and/or direct the compilation of project Bill of Material (BOM) lists or “take-off” using plans, specifications, and requirements provided. Peer review material lists prepared by others for accuracy and conformance to contract documents.
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team within tight timescales and complete assigned proposal and project tasks within budget and schedule.
  • Represent the engineering team in project kick-off meetings, Ready to Execute (RTE) meetings, Ready to Deploy (RTD) meetings, After Action Review (AAR) meetings, Job Summary Report meetings (JSR).
  • Provide engineering guidance to colleagues and other teams by participating in sales presentations, conference calls and customer meetings as needed to generate profitable revenue opportunities.
  • Guide the production of user training manuals and final documentation required projects.
  • Responsible for reading, understanding and following all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain through self-motivation, discipline and focus a leading edge level of functional/technical skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Review and approve test and acceptance test plans.
  • Work effectively across cross functional lines, in coordination with others involved in operations, marketing, sales, finance, logistics, and maintenance services.
  • Manage the ongoing development and ensure adherence of Engineering Standards and processes to bring continuity to system design within the organization and its customers.
  • Other functions as required to meet the needs of the corporation.
 
Job Specifications and Requirements:
  • BSEE or BSCS or advanced degree desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer experience with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project with proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to train, present, direct and mentor sales and technical personnel.
 

Working Conditions

Varying indoor working conditions, including office, mock-up area, and customer work sites often in a fluid environment. Scheduled travel up to 20% or more.
