MicroTech-Sponsored Cormier Makes His UFC Debut

After sponsoring the undefeated Grand Prix Heavyweight Champion, Daniel “DC” Cormier, in his last Strikeforce event, MicroTech definitely did not want to miss out on his highly anticipated UFC debut this Saturday night. MicroTech has been a long time sponsor of Cormier and is happy to continue the partnership as DC takes the next step in his undefeated professional MMA career (11-0).

Cormier expressed his enthusiasm and determination in his UFC on Fox7 one-on-one interview. He said, “We’ve always known the UFC is the show; the biggest crowds, the brightest lights, the best stars...” Cormier was one of the best Strikeforce stars before, and now as an official member of the UFC, he is shining brighter than ever.

Watch Cormier as he wears the prominent MicroTech logo and battles it out with former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir (16-6) at 8 p.m. (EST) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California on UFC on Fox7.

You might remember that after Cormier clobbered Dion Staring in the Strikeforce finale, he called out both Mir and the UFC light-heavyweight champion, Jon Jones. Cormier was originally set to fight Mir last November, but Mir canceled because of an injury.

Cormier would have to drop from 238 to 205 lbs. to fight against Jones, but he said in the one-on-one that if that was what the organization wanted and “if the opportunity presented itself, yeah,” Cormier said, “I would gladly take it.”

He added, “These are the fights that become legendary and at some point I would like to take part in that.”

However in an interview with Yahoo! Expert Kevin Iole, Cormier proved to keep his eye on the here and now. He said, "For me to have stated that I would consider it means that I am confident that I can make the weight, but right now my sole focus is on Frank Mir, and once we get past Frank, then we can talk about that other stuff."

Tune into Fox this Saturday night at 8 p.m. (EST) for Daniel Cormier’s UFC debut fight against Frank Mir as the co-main event, before main event: Henderson vs. Melendez.
