MicroTech CEO Tony Jimenez spoke today before 54 rapt PMT 401 Program Manager Acquisition students at Defense Acquisition University (DAU), on the Fort Belvoir military base in Virginia. The students, who represent all service branches, the DoD, and other government agencies, heard keen insights from Tony on program management from a successful business owner’s perspective.
Tony is an actual graduate of the course, and has over 20 years of program management experience.
DAU is a best-in-class corporate university for the Defense Acquisition Workforce. The educational facility offers formal courses, continuous learning modules, and knowledge sharing assets and consulting, with most of the learning assets focused on acquisition programs, projects, and systems of our nation’s Warfighter.
After briefly outlining some of the acquisition-related small business challenges, Tony discussed the impact of social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook on program management. He focused on how social media has transformed the news and information landscape, and included the program and project management fields.
With the PMT 401 class currently undergoing media training, Tony wrapped up his presentation by sharing some lessons learned and rules of thumb for engaging the press.
